Pesticides, Cell Tower basics and links

Hello! I live in the Laurelwood neighborhood; my name is Marian Smith and I feel very lucky to be in such a beautiful part of our city.  I'm not very web-savvy BUT I'm starting this blog as a "bulletin board" for the neighborhood.  WHY?  Two reasons:   

FIRST, there is a possibility that a cell tower will be erected at the golf course.  Here's the story from the Register-Guard, in case you missed it:

This is of great concern to me for three reasons
a) cell towers are known (according to an increasing number of studies) to be damaging to human health.
b) a cell tower -- even if disguised as a tree -- would be an eyesore
c) both of these things -- the danger it would pose, and its ugliness -- would lower property values in much of the Laurelwood neighborhood

SECOND, earlier this summer, my friend Lisa Arkin (of Oregon Toxics Alliance), told me that there had been pesticide spraying at the golf course near my house, but that no informational signs had been posted.  ("Didn't you see the story in the Eugene Weekly?" she asked. No, I hadn't!!)  I'd been walking my dog there a lot, and I've seen other folks walking THEIR dogs there.  And I've seen lots of kids there, too.  When, and where, were the pesticides applied?   I had no idea!  But my dog had been spending plenty of time in the grass there.

As I told some neighbors about this, they were surprised, and said that they'd been told at a meeting that no pesticides would be used at Laurelwood Golf Course. I wondered -- what should I do?  Should I post signs?  Should I hang out at the golf course and tell the dog-walkers and golfers what I'd heard?   And what about the families who attend weddings and celebrations at the golf club house?  Many is the time I've seen kids rolling around on the grass there. I haven't come up with a solution, but --  in case you're like me and you hadn't heard anything, here are some links with information.
